Optimum Nutrition Fish Oil Review

fishoil_1Tonight I will be reviewing yet another Optimum Nutrition product.  Except tonight the subject of the blog post won’t be a protein powder, but a supplement.  The subject of my blog post tonight will be Optimum Nutrition Fish Oil.  According to bodybuilding.com, Optimum Nutrition’s Fish Oil received a 9.3/10, or an Excellent rating.  I’ve been taking Optimum’s Fish Oil for about a month now and I must say the way I feel and the way my body looks as a result of adding some extra Omega-3 Fatty Acids is amazing.   Let’s see what makes this product another that keeps Optimum Nutrition at the top of the supplement industry.

One pill of Optimum’s Fish Oil contains 10 calories, 1 gram of fat, and 5 milligrams of cholesterol.  In that one gram of fat, there is 1,000 milligrams, or one gram of fish oil.  Optimum includes 180 milligrams of EPA (Eicosapentaenoic Acid) & 120 milligrams of DHA (Docosahexaenoic Acid).  The body needs EPA to metabolize DHA, and ingesting DHA may inhibit the growth of colon cancer cells in males.

Also included in Optimum’s Fish Oil’s ingredients is Gelatin, which is involved in the casing that holds the fish oil.  Also, vegetarians and mainly vegans may choose not to consume Optimum’s Fish Oil because it contains gelatin which may originate from animals in some cases.  The next ingredient on the label is Glycerin, which is used to improve the smoothness of a product and also lubricates the product.  The next ingredient listed on the label is Food Glaze, which provides a shiny appearance and protective coating to the product.  The next ingredient listed is Ethyl Cellulose, which is a thin-film coating material and food additive.  The next ingredient we have listed is Sodium Alginate, which is a flavorless gum which is a food additive and thickening agent.  Next we have Stearic Acid, which may help in the molding of the gelatin casing that is involved with holding the product.  The next ingredient listed is Mixed Tocopherols, which is technically Vitamin E.  Vitamin E is a fat soluble antioxidant.  The last ingredient we have is Vanillin, which is used to flavor foods and make them taste sweeter.

Optimum’s Fish Oil is one of the best Fish Oil products out on the market today.  I cannot say that it is the best product on the market because I cannot confirm that with the variety of products available out there currently, but it is definitely up there.  For the carnivore like myself, this product is great and consumable, but if you are a vegetarian, I would not recommend taking it because of the Gelatin.  Optimum’s Fish Oil contains oils from Anchovies, Mackerels, & Sardines.  Overall I have to give Optimum Nutrition’s Fish Oil a 10/10 rating, and would recommend heading over to bodybuilding.com and picking up a 200 capsule bottle for roughly $12.99, which is quite possibly the cheapest on the market and well worth the price.
